Hi, I just wanted to share my thoughts about switching to Mac OS on my PC. Right now I use Windows 10, and I’m curious if installing Mac OS would be different from a standard Windows setup. Do I need a Mac device to prepare the boot device? Also, I’ve heard the experience won’t feel the same as using an Apple device. Thanks to everyone who can help clarify this!

Most issues are likely to arise. You'll need to spend at least three days searching for fixes and experimenting with unusual system tricks that might even intimidate an experienced Linux user. Even after those efforts, your computer is still probably not functioning properly. Hackingtosh relies heavily on your hardware since it involves direct modifications. Imagine attempting a jailbreak on an iPhone but scaling it up significantly.

Hackintoshing is actually manageable. It’s more challenging than a standard Windows setup, yet plenty of online guides exist and a supportive community is available. In short, if you can read, you’ll succeed. The steps vary depending on whether you’re using a desktop or laptop, and the specific CPU type. AMD systems need extra adjustments, while Apple devices have certain limitations (like iMessage and FaceTime). For Intel CPUs, refer to this resource: https://internet-install.gitbook.io/maco...t-install/. If you’re on an AMD board, check out the forum link: https://forum.amd-osx.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5902. Nvidia GPUs aren’t compatible with macOS Mojave yet—consider older versions or iGPU options. You might find help at Reddit’s r/hackintosh, InsanelyMac, or the tonymacx86 site, though the latter isn’t recommended. Edited March 16, 2019 by duncannah
