OHIAI, hi fellow online friend! I just finished assembling a new system (first tried on my desk) and was thrilled to start. Everything looks fine when checking the BIOS reports, but sadly neither the Ubuntu 19.04 nor the Windows 10.1903 installers can launch properly. They boot up, but when I click "Install Ubuntu," I just see the logo screen with dots fading away. The same goes for Windows – it barely starts, and the cursor keeps blinking in the top-left corner, keeping me in place.
Build: ROG Strix X570-F
Hardware: AMD Radeon RX 5700XT, Ryzen 7 3700X, Corsair Vengance 2x16GB 3200MHz, Force Series MP600, 1TB x 2 Corsair RM750
Configurations tried: RAM auto (2133) or manual, Compatibility mode on/off, Secure boot set to Windows or non-Windows, NVMe in RAID 0. No useful web results beyond "this is how you set up your boot order."
Just to confirm: Both installers work to launch, but they just sit there waiting. Any tips or references would be a huge help. My daughter already turned the box into a spaceship – some progress, but still not great! I really hope this turns out okay at the end.
Got more details about the Ubuntu side. It seems the problem ties to a bug in the current microcode for Ryzen 3000 CPUs, causing incorrect random values: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sourc...ug/1835809. I also noticed that for proper installation of ASUS BIOS, "fast boot" must be turned off, compatibility mode needs to be enabled, and secure boot should be disabled. I’ve successfully installed Ubuntu 18.04 and am moving to 19.04; we’ll monitor the outcome. Ubuntu didn’t support the RAID0 setup from ASUS, so I turned it off. I plan to try Windows 10 once 19.04 is stable.
Reaching 19.04 using 18.04 was possible, but Windows 10 installation remains uncertain. Could an older version or a Windows 7 setup help? Are there any others who've managed to install Windows 10 from scratch on a 3700X or similar 3000-series hardware? It might be worth exploring how the motherboard BIOS interacts with the installation process.

I checked it before, but I wasn’t fully sure about the confidence level since the listed version "1201" was lower than what the BIOS indicated. I can’t access the machine at the moment, but I’ll confirm the version number once I’m back.
I tried the 1201 setup. It doesn’t interfere with starting the current Ubuntu version, though it also doesn’t help Windows 10 boot on the machine. Configuration settings applied: Secure boot turned off, compatibility mode active, NVMe drives not in RAID.
I’m happy with the current configuration using 18.04 and the newest AMD drivers. This is where I work most often, and my games run smoothly, so I don’t need to force Windows to adapt. Instead, I’ll explore setting up a single-partition RAID0 across both SSDs. With everything handled through software, I can concentrate on fitting all these components into my older PowerMac G4 case.
Updates: RAID is now active – see the link. It seems the G4 case didn’t quite fit this configuration. I’m still using Ubuntu 18.04 without any changes to my work or gaming environment (I’ve really enjoyed The Outer Worlds lately). Last week I had a minor injury, so I worked from home for a while. I plan to set up a Win10 VM for testing, but that’s about it.
