Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here, just checking if it’s in the right spot.
I’ve added a new 990 Pro 2Tb to my current PC build. Everything seems to be running smoothly and performing well, but I’m noticing something odd with the GPU fans. They’re spinning at full speed during heavy loads, which is unusual since they usually barely make noise. I’m trying to figure out why.
I also cloned my old SSD—an older M.2 Corsair drive—to this new one for extra speed. Maybe there was an issue during the transfer?
Another point to mention is that the SSD is placed in the slot below the GPU, which sits under a heatsink. I didn’t expect heat to be a problem, but it could be affecting performance. The M.2 slots are fine, temperatures are normal, the GPU idles at 50°C (a bit high), and fans activate around 60°C.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading!

It seems like the motherboard was made by someone who didn't think much about design. That's what I'd say for the person who put a heat generator under the airflow area of a video card. Move the drive to another M.2 slot or use an M.2 extender and place it outside the video card area.

Did you take off the plastic covering from the heat pad's thermal layer when you mounted the SSD?

Yeah I did. I’ve put the SSD in the slot that communicated with the chipset, I’ve got a slot spare that works with the COU instead, like my other drive, maybe it’s worth changing it over?

I plan to install the new SSD in the slot not located under the GPU, use it as the boot drive, and place the other drive beneath the GPU for storage. I’ll monitor the outcome.
