Installed a new computer today but it didn't start.
Turn off all unnecessary devices and connections (like the nVidia GPU, storage drives, fans, USB ports, front panel buttons, and LEDs). Attempt to boot the system. Use just one stick of RAM. The motherboard includes a video output, and the CPU has its own integrated GPU—use that instead. If this doesn’t work, build a simple setup outside the case (on a motherboard box) and try booting again.
I also tried both options, but they didn't work. I put everything back into the box and plan to return it tomorrow morning.
I solved it and I’m a bit embarrassed for swapping the other board, but when I came back I got a Xbox controller instead. The issue was that the power switch for the front case IO was connected to the wrong pins on the board. The computer is working fine now. Thanks for your help!
If you truly unplugged the unnecessary components, you would have noticed the issue immediately because the PC would report it. I think you didn’t do that.
I removed all components that weren't essential for operation. From the manual I identified the correct pins for the power switch.
The initial input interface isn't required for starting the computer.
This was my initial project where I handled most of the tasks. I'm still getting the hang of things, which is why my cable setup looks a bit messy. I haven't shorted any pins when starting up the PC, and the reset function only works when the machine is powered on.
