As the name implies, I recently assembled a new computer, and overall everything is functioning perfectly. However, whenever I enable XMP in the BIOS, the system fails to boot after saving and resetting, displaying a black screen. Initially, I mistakenly purchased the wrong RAM—specifically the "AMD Expo" variant. Today, after replacing it with the correct "Intel XMP" version, both profiles (1 and 2) still cause the machine to attempt a restart but end up with a black screen. I’m hoping someone can assist me! Thank you ahead of time.

Specs: Graphics: Radeon RX 7900 XT OC CPU: Intel I7 -14700K RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 32GB 6400MHz Intel XMP (2x16GB) Memory: ASUS Prime z790 -P WiFi Cooler: Corsair iCUE H150i Elite 360MM Case: Corsair 3500X PSU: Gigabyte UD1000GM Gold 1000W SSD: WD-Black 2TB m.2

It seems like something important is being overlooked. Right now, the setup is operating at 4000mt/s, while the system is designed for 6400mt/s.

I just installed the latest BIOS version and rechecked all the XMP profiles, but the outcome remains unchanged. From what I observe, it correctly handles timing and voltage settings.

XMP is essentially an overclocking method, and its compatibility can vary depending on your system. Performance gains aren't as significant as the figures imply—typically around 2 to 5%, not a drastic 35%.

A quick update, I just now got it to work. I'd just accepted the lower speeds, but today I noticed something small. For some reason I had installed the RAM sticks in slots 1 & 3 rather than 2 & 4. So I changed slots and thought I might as well give XMP another go, and BOOM, works like a charm. 6400MT/s like it was nothing, lol. Stupid little mistake caused me a whole lotta headache.
