Installation halts due to absent drivers on Win11 IoT LTSC.
Hello, following the failed 24-hour upgrade that locked my system, I need to install the LTSC version. Since I rarely use Windows and get frustrated by updates, I used an 11 IoT LTSC ISO and made a USB stick with Balena Etcher. Now I’m stuck at the installer asking for missing media drivers, but it doesn’t specify which one is needed. After some digging, I think IRST drivers are likely the issue. I tried putting them on another USB drive, but they only appear if I turn off the compatibility check. It seems the drivers might not be missing entirely—maybe they’re just not detected correctly? For a Precision 5560, have you checked Dell’s support site or looked into alternative driver sources?
Are you being directed to download storage drivers instead of moving forward with the installation? Visit this page, choose "this device," and input your service tag. Then retrieve all necessary components including storage drivers, firmware updates, and chipset drivers like Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST), Intel serial IO driver, etc. You’ll need to pull the drivers from the executables and save them to a USB pen drive. During setup, locate the driver folder—either the system auto-detects it or you manually pick the .inf file for installation.
It’s not clear exactly which driver is missing—it indicates a general issue with "some media device driver." I also experimented with various drivers: Dell drivers tagged with IRST Chipset, Serial IO Network, Thunderbolt Controller, and Management Engine. When I selected all available ones, installation failed. Many appeared to show up but didn’t change anything; some reported errors during setup. The NVME drive appears in DiskPart, suggesting connectivity isn’t the problem. Still, the warning persists: a required media driver is missing (could be DVD, USB, or hard drive). I checked for installation logs in X:\Windows\Panther, but none were found.
It looks like the problem might have been with the ISO file itself. The updated image worked fine after installation, so double-checking your ISO's CRC checksums could help prevent future issues.
