Installation guide for Windiws 10.
When you first set up your PC, you used Windows 10 on a 32GB M.2 SSD for quick startup. Now you're facing storage problems and want to switch to a 1TB WD HDD. You should create a partition on the HDD using a USB drive, set the HDD as the main boot drive, and then remove the Windows installation from the M.2 drive. Delete the OS from the M.2 beforehand if needed. Let me know if you need more details.
Transfer all your files—photos, videos, games, and documents—to the 1TB storage device. Maintain the operating system on the M.2 slot to ensure fast startup.
Use windirstat to see which files consume the most space. It’s a powerful tool for tracking usage. https://windirstat.net/
People have mentioned it, so don’t remove the operating system. Just transfer the user files and Program Files to the hard drive. The tutorial from @lordi is excellent for moving user folders. The main goal of an M.2 drive is to place the OS there for a faster, more responsive PC.
Keep Program Files intact. Install your programs directly onto the hard drive instead. Typically you must select "Custom" or "Advanced" during setup to find the option for specifying installation locations. Shifting Program Files creates complications. It isn't compatible with Windows, even though it's possible. Moving folders like Documents, Music, Photos, etc., works without issues. To relocate an installed app, remove it first and reinstall at the new spot. The same applies to temporary folders and any related directories. Generally, don't rely on every software or game being well-developed. Many have hastily written code to meet deadlines, parts created by junior developers who haven't been thoroughly reviewed or tested, or the developers never consulted the official Windows documentation to ensure proper functionality.
