Install Windows 8.1 via USB drive.
Hi, I'm using Windows 8.0 on an old HP laptop and planning to get a new gaming PC soon. I was considering trying Windows 8.1 first to see if it fits my needs. After setting up the ISO to USB, I attempted to boot from it but it didn't work. When I clicked to boot, my laptop just started normally with Windows 8.0. I'm wondering if there might be an issue with my BIOS settings—do you think that could be the problem? Thanks, Arno.
Windows 8.1 is an upgrade available for free from Windows 8. From the App Store it’s easy to switch. I’m puzzled about why you’re suggesting a floppy drive. Did you install Windows 8.1 on 1458 floppies? If you’re using a USB flash drive, you should import the Windows 8.1 ISO onto it and make it bootable. You can use this free Microsoft tool: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/...nload-tool After that, connect it to a USB 2.0 port and set your system to boot from it.
I'll give it a shot and keep you updated on the progress. The main goal is to see how the installation from USB works on my new PC after I order a fresh system without a CD drive. If it doesn't work there, I'll try the suggested method and let you know the outcome.
Thanks a lot! After using the program, it worked perfectly. I think the site you mentioned isn't the same. Appreciate your help!
