Hello! Your brother's birthday is coming up and he's getting a new computer to build, but we haven't yet purchased the operating system. It's affordable on G2A, which I've used before for games, so I thought buying it there would be a good idea. I have a question though: Is it possible to install Windows 8.1 from a USB drive? Since the computer will be assembled the same day, there won't be any OS until the installation is complete. Do we need to upgrade to 8.1 from an earlier version, or can it work as the first operating system? I've heard others have bought 8.1 codes from this site, so I'm pretty sure it's legitimate. Thanks for reading and let me know if you have any advice!

It shouldn't be an issue if you have a key that won't be deactivated.

It should function, though many keys come from MSDN. I’d check eBay to see if cheaper alternatives exist.

They're suggesting the keys on G2A might not fit. Did you get this wrong?

they can function, yet they might be MSDN keys intended for learners, meaning they could lapse after a few years

You should consider Rufus for creating a bootable USB drive. What operating system are you running?

Download the Windows 7 USB/DVD tool from Microsoft's official site. It's a program designed to create bootable USB drives for Windows 7 and Windows 8. I've used it regularly whenever I needed a new drive.
