Hello! I plan to test Windows 8 and I’ve pulled a key from my old laptop (it ran Windows 8). Can I install Windows 8 using the key from that machine? Thanks for the help! Also, I’m using Strawpool at http://strawpoll.me/1600612. My system specs are: AMD FX-6300 overclocked to 4.0Ghz, 8GB Kingston HyperX, ASUS M578L-MLX3, WD Blue 1TB, Asus ATI R9 270, Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO, and Coolermaster B600.

Usually, laptop keys are OEM and function only for that specific manufacturer.

the method an OEM key follows is that it attaches to the device (typically the dock) and won’t function on another laptop even if they share the same brand. to test Windows 8 across several machines, you’ll need a consumer license so you can apply it to different motherboards
