I have blocked all updates in win7. Is it possible to do the same with win10?. If it is then that is something to consider

You can disable a substantial portion of it. Honestly, about me, I don’t believe the data gathered is crucial. As long as you stay careful, I think they won’t gain much beyond the error logs.

Many Windows 7 to 10 drivers adapt to different versions. I once used a nForce motherboard with Windows 10 drivers from Windows 7, and it worked smoothly until the automatic update process started.

If you explore Malwarebytes/Binisoft Windows Firewall Control, you can handle Win10 networking through network access management. With tools like PiHole blocking domains and WFC managing processes locally, you can effectively control the system. I’ve delayed upgrading 10 until now. For years, I’ve run it as a second boot on my primary workstation and laptop to understand its behavior. Now that it’s the main OS on my new machine, I’m mostly using WFC for configuration. I haven’t fully migrated yet, but it feels right to move forward. Windows 10 seems problematic, but newer hardware, drivers, and security features demand it. Mostly the telemetry concerns are under control, and the control panel’s confusing layout across three interfaces makes OS setup and troubleshooting difficult. It makes sense why people have hesitated to switch to Win10 for so long—it’s quite challenging to manage.

Replicate the functioning setup and start on your second device. It should function properly. Ignore any adapters or similar concerns.

I successfully created and saved my image using audit mode, sysprep, OOBE generalize, and ImageX for universal compatibility. I installed it on any desktop or laptop via a universal disc image. During audit mode, I installed everything I needed. After sysprep, I generalized the image and exited. Then I booted from a Win7 PE disc with ImageX and captured the .wim file. I replaced the WIM file on my Windows USB drive used for previous installations. Using DISM GUI, I added the modified X470 USB drivers and an NVMe hotfix. It worked smoothly. I believe the key was updating the boot.wim file with new drivers, which allowed my USB keyboard and mouse to function correctly from the start. Thank you all for your helpful advice!

I also tried the clone, and it helped quite a bit too. Appreciate the guidance!

I'm facing the same situation. I posted to support about my computer issues. I updated my hardware (Ryzen 3950x + x570 Aourus Master) but encountered problems running Windows 7 with the new processor. My Windows 7 is stuck and doesn't receive updates—just used for games. I rely on Linux for everything else. Now I'm unsure what to do: either try to modify Windows 7 for compatibility, or set up a secure Windows 10 environment in a sandbox. I also want to know about strong ways to protect Windows 10 from Microsoft attacks without using any user accounts. Any helpful guides would be great.
