So m8s, I own Windows 7 Home Premium and I lost the disc, what a shame. I was thinking about reinstalling today on a larger SSD and then it just disappeared. I still have the key and some other stuff, but I’m curious—can I install it without the ISO? You mentioned you could do it from a USB, but wouldn’t that require the ISO file? (I’ve got a USB stick prepared.)
Download the Windows 7 ISO from the official Microsoft site. Then apply a tool to create a bootable disk.
Download the ISO file from the provided link for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Create a bootable USB using the suggested tool from Microsoft Store.
The ISO page can be found at the provided URL. A reference guide is also available.
Visit the specified links to obtain the ISO file. Once downloaded, transfer it to your USB drive using the provided installer.
You're facing a tricky scenario. You have a few choices: talk to a friend about getting a disc for Windows 7, or use a small mod to change your version. This process involves removing the CLG file (see link below). Another option is contacting the manufacturer—DELL, HP, Acer, etc.—to request a copy, which usually costs around $20. You shouldn't be able to install Windows on USB without an ISO image. Hope this helps! CLG link: http://www.askvg.com/how-to-choose-desir...ring-setup
you might attempt to create an ISO, but the key might not function properly. yesterday i tried generating an ISO USB drive using the key, yet it displayed an error saying I couldn't use the key for this purpose (the key comes from dell, so its exact use isn unclear). still, if you already have your operating system on a solid-state drive, just insert the SSD and operate normally.
