Check if Windows 10 is ready for installation. Consider a clean install or an update. Updating has some drawbacks, such as potential data loss or system instability if issues arise.

I've just made the update, but feel free to perform a clean install if you prefer.

It offers no drawbacks; you retain all your programs and files. A fresh setup is, quite simply, a fresh setup.

Upgrade the device registration process, then reinstall it. Changes during upgrades may lead to various issues, yet a specific step is required for the free upgrade.

You should consider upgrading and perform a clean install if you intend to. The upgrade is recommended since registering your valid 7/8 license will transfer it to version 10.

According to the FAQ, you should first upgrade, and then a clean install of Windows 10 is possible afterward. It also mentions that there’s no current information about a site offering direct ISO downloads using your product key, so we should keep an eye on updates.

You can restore Windows 10 on your device after the upgrade. After installing Windows 10 via the free upgrade option, you’ll have the ability to reinstall it, even a fresh one, on the same computer. You won’t have to buy Windows 10 again or revert to an older version and start over. Additionally, you can generate your own installation media such as a USB drive or DVD, which lets you upgrade or reinstall later.
