It’s not straightforward, but technically you could run Linux alongside Windows 10 using a virtual machine. However, you’d need to keep the computer powered on while switching between OSes. If your hardware supports it, you might be able to launch a Linux environment inside Windows without shutting it down. This would let you test builds or games directly from your main system.

Use VirtualBox or similar tools. Provide the ISO file and allocate a dedicated storage partition.

You can also obtain Ubuntu from the Microsoft store. With the Windows Terminal installed, you can run Linux applications directly there. (Note: there are some restrictions.) Also, you have the option to customize the appearance.

Using VirtualBox enables WSL2 access, granting full Windows file and functionality support, including GPU and GUI with upcoming updates. It is fully developed by Microsoft and available in the Windows 10 app store.
