Install two SSDs for a dual-boot setup.
You're wondering if you can switch Ubuntu installation to a different SSD while keeping Windows available for dual boot. Yes, it's possible. You'll need to format the new SSD with a GPT partition and then install Ubuntu there, ensuring it works alongside Windows.
With two drives you won’t have to worry about partitioning issues. Based on how you boot, pick either GPT (UEFI) or MBR (BIOS). Once that’s set, you should be able to install Ubuntu on the second SSD and use the boot menu key (usually F11/F12 at startup, varies by board).
You can set up Ubuntu just like you did with Windows, without any configuration needed. It’s a new experience, so don’t worry about the questions!
Hi Steve-kon, I did the same, set up Windows on a vital SSD and Ubuntu on a Samsung device, everything functioned perfectly without changing any settings and in roughly an hour it was up. A couple of lessons from experience: 1) install Windows first and 2) never boot without one of the two drives once you're done, probably because it causes issues. Enjoy!
