On the fine release day, Vista performed well, as did Vista on its own. The issue stemmed from the drivers, which had changed in Microsoft's updates. In response, Microsoft informed all hardware suppliers about this change before the release.

Day one probably won't alter my view. Even if you have to wait, it's still smart to go for the cheapest choice. That said, the technical preview looks quite solid, so I'm not overly concerned.

I didn’t like Windows 8 much, but I use Windows 7 Ultimate and it really works well. Either way, you can still upgrade to Windows 10.

I've observed that Windows 8.1 performed more sluggishly on my PC compared to Windows 7, possibly due to the older hardware I have. Still planning to upgrade to 10 though, regardless of the situation.
