You're getting a MacBook Pro this week and already have a strong gaming PC, so you'll likely focus on school work. As a computer science student, coding is a big part of your studies. However, one teacher requires projects to be submitted using Windows Visual Studio, but her specific version causes problems. She might reject the work if she can't open it. To avoid that risk, you're considering dual booting with Windows using a Samsung T5 Portable SSD. Since you're unfamiliar with dual booting or Macs in general, I can help guide you through the process.
I've only tried it a handful of times, but you could install Bootcamp and dual boot OS X with any Windows version you prefer. Back in the day, our team ran 15" MacBook Pros alongside Windows 10, and it functioned smoothly until they stopped using OS X altogether. With those systems, we kept 500 GB drives, so we'd reduce OS X to roughly 100 GB and allocate the rest to their Windows partition.
I installed Windows 10 onto the Samsung T5 500GB SSD for dual booting on a 2016 MacBook Pro. It functions perfectly. I even run games smoothly. See the guide here: https://9to5mac.com/2017/08/31/how-windo...ive-video/
