I want to set up and operate Kerbal Space Program with minimal system impact. I know mods add about 10 gigabytes, but I’d like to place them on a separate SSD. Can this be done? There are many guides on YouTube and the game’s site, but none cover installation choices. I don’t use or intend to use Steam. My machine is built with an SSD dedicated solely to storing game data. I wouldn’t want to allocate 50 gigabytes there for this. I also plan to do the same with MSFS 2020, which could offer up to 150 gigabytes.

Usually, applications and Windows perform well with multiple drives. I haven't tested it with KSP yet, but have you?
While installing, avoid letting it choose the default locations.
