I realized there are two standards, T568A and T568B. After checking the jack and doing some research, my wall uses Type A Ethernet, but the extension I bought is Type B. I’m unsure if switching to a Type A extension will work or if I should keep the plug as Type A. Any guidance would be helpful.

It's a minor adjustment, just follow the usual wiring method. The distinction lies in T568A versus T568B, which are two common U.S. standards for cable connections.

Maintaining consistency between both ends of a cable is crucial. If the keystone jack uses T568A, connect that end as T568A. As long as both ends match, it will function properly. You can still use a T568B cable into a T568A socket if the connections align correctly. For simplicity, choose one standard and follow it throughout your wiring setup. T568B is usually the more frequently used option.
