InquiryUnsolvable PC sudden shutdowns, I'm completely overwhelmed here?
The same things as always: starting the PC, launching the chat, and starting the game. I can play anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes or more before it crashes. However, yesterday it crashed only twice while performing these exact actions. Then, I played the game all day without a crash. Today, it crashed once, and then I couldn't induce another crash. I am not sure if you are familiar with hardware information logs, but I am going to create a thread with some logs so perhaps someone can identify something I am missing. I also need to gather some Event Viewer logs as well.
That is very intriguing. Do you have an older graphics card available?
It's exceptionally challenging to troubleshoot these types of issues. You can either make an educated guess or test other components. I would install the 1080 Ti and see if the problems persist. When it crashes, what kind of behavior does it exhibit? Does it simply freeze during its operation, does it blue screen, or does it reboot instantly like the flip of a switch? Additionally, does the computer produce any sound when this occurs?
It just powers off immediately, no freezing, no performance issues, no BSOD, no reboot, just off. When I begin testing the hardware, I will likely start with the power supply. It is just the specific and peculiar circumstances that lead to the crash that make me feel like it may not be hardware-related. Yet, I do not know.
I understand how frustrating it is to troubleshoot these matters; it took me months. I would say it is either the power supply or the motherboard personally. What speed RAM do you have, and have you tested one stick at a time?
The fact that it simply shuts down indicates to me a fundamental hardware issue. I have never encountered software causing these types of issues.
RAM speed is 6000MHz with DOCP enabled; I have turned it off and tested both individual and dual sticks extensively. I do not believe it is the RAM. I want to suggest it is hardware-related as well, but if that is the case, I would expect the crashes to be more consistent.
Typically, I can usually induce a crash 1-3 times in a day but will not after that, no matter what I do. It does not crash during stress tests (Prime95 and Furmark) or any benchmarks. Hence, for hardware, I would think that would be a pretty solid indicator if it crashed consistently during those tests. It may still be hardware-related, though, because it is almost as if the PC has been on long enough or had a "warm-up period"; after crashing 1-3 times, it will not crash again. Lol, it is driving me crazy, and I have never encountered an issue I cannot diagnose to this extent. Honestly, I am just waiting for some funds, and I will begin returning items or testing components and absorb the cost of some piece of hardware.
