Each of us has a small marker on the up side. The ones I've dealt with most often are consistent.

Most people won’t damage a LED that can easily handle 5V without any issues.

I wasn’t concerned about the LED. I wasn’t sure it would affect the motherboard. Still, I think if I’d considered it more, I might have understood that the LED was the only part that could have been harmed.
