Hey there, I’m looking to boost my RAM from 16GB to 32GB. I found a solution that fits my PC, but I’m a bit worried about whether it can reach its full speed. The system image shows DDR4-2400, while the product I want has a 3600MHz clock speed. Does the image indicate any limitations on using that frequency, or is there a way to overclock it? Thanks ahead!

DDR4-3200 can work in systems that only support up to DDR4-2400, which means the RAM will automatically slow down. You haven't mentioned other details about your setup. If it's a ready-made unit, you probably won't be able to exceed its maximum speed. Otherwise, give it a try and see what happens.

How many dimmers are there? You might need two 16GB dimmers to reach 32GB of RAM. What components are already installed?

Thank you for your response! The system appears ready with an overclock feature in the command center, though I’m unsure about its effectiveness. For more details, you can refer to the support document here: https://support.hp.com/za-en/document/c05835117

In addition to not operating at maximum speed, ready-made solutions typically offer just two memory slots, meaning you’ll require 16GB modules to achieve the desired 32GB total. This situation seems likely here since even Skylake processors can support 64GB across four sticks.

The link indicates a DDR4-2666 configuration, not DDR4-2400. It should function with your purchased RAM as long as there are two slots available. Adjusting certain board settings might cause the RAM to underclock to match the board's specifications.

Received 2 sticks of 8GB each. It can handle up to 4x8GB for 32GB total. 2x16GB won't fit, seems accurate. Appreciate the info about 4 DDR4 slots.

Hello there! The forum discussion highlights key points from HP: If you aim for a 32GB system, ensure you have eight 8GB DIMMs. Fast RAM speeds like 3600Mhz aren't always beneficial because they might only run at 2400Mhz. P.S. The product looks quite expensive compared to alternatives—3000Mhz+ memory is available for 140 euros and 3600Mhz+ for 200 euros: https://tweakers.net/categorie/545/geheu...UPQjnOUUj4. You might consider pairing two 8GB modules to expand your capacity without overhauling the whole setup. A 16GB module won't fit either. Using DDR4 RAM has generally worked well for me, giving a solid 90% success rate. In rare cases, memory pairs may not sync properly, but they can function independently—just stick with compatible configurations for the full benefit.

Consider purchasing a chip with 2400mhz, 3200mhz, or 3600mhz. You can also explore adjusting settings if needed.

what board? Many will support 16gb dimms even if it doesn't have offical support for it.
