You're encountering a connector design that's slightly different in two places, which can be confusing but usually not a major problem. The mismatch might cause minor issues with power delivery or cable alignment, though it shouldn't stop your build. Both your PSU and motherboard are compatible, so it’s likely just a design quirk.

Usually PSUs have cables that only fit in one orientation. Some might be reversible, while most are designed for a single direction. Certain models include a split design where the end connects to the PSU and the 20+4 connect to the motherboard. Unless you're seeing something different, that's likely the standard.

It seems you're asking about fitting a trapezoid into a square. That concept is interesting but depends on the specifics of your design.

A square fits into a square hole. Are you referring to the PSU cable from the wall to the PC or the C13 cable?

You might be mixing up the 8pin GPU cables with the CPU power cables that appear as two 8pin connectors. Each cable should clearly indicate its destination, and the PSU should also have proper labeling. Updated: December 28, 2024 by thrasher_565

I believe I've fixed the PSU and CPU connections. Fortunately, the cables include a "CPU" tag on them. My concern is whether the cable shown in the attached image can fit into the MB connector in the other picture without any problems. The image doesn't show me splitting the CPU cable, but it's a 4+4 type.

The 4+4 go to the main CPU power at the top left requires two units. The other end connects to the PCIe/CPU on the PSU, with GPU power usually being 8 pins or a 6+2 pin configuration that feeds the GPU and the other to the PSU CPU. Edited December 28, 2024 by thrasher_565
