Hey! I'm not sure about the exact number, but using Fraps' in-game FPS counter shouldn't significantly affect your gameplay.

you won't lose any frames with fraps for FPS measurements only, it consumes minimal resources so no CPU strain occurs unless you're using low-end chips. once recording begins, the real slowdown comes from encoding, which reduces FPS because many CPU resources are being utilized.

Don't understand much about fraps, but if it doesn<|pad|>, OBS works well for me. If your specs are better than mine, you should easily record 1080p60.

when you make any kind of recording, avoid using fraps. opt for obs or a gpu-powered encoding tool that utilizes cuda cores, such as nvidia. adjust based on the gpu you have and its available cuda cores. you shouldn't notice any variation in fps during recording.

I didn't miss anything. Your Steam FPS overlay also functions quite well.

Steam overlays often lead to significant drops in frame rates across many titles (experience firsthand), causing crashes.

For tracking FPS, the difference in performance between Fraps, MSI Afterburner, Steam or other overlays is almost nonexistent. Ensure recording or encoding isn’t tied to a hotkey you might press while gaming, as this could cause major slowdowns. Keep in mind that Fraps may struggle with certain Direct3D apps, leading to crashes or failures, though most will display a warning.

Fraps relies a lot on HDD and SSD performance. You won<|pad|>'s choice of codec can't be customized like Dxtory or OBS does.
