I purchased Windows 10 Home about six months ago. I bought the regular $90 or similar OEM version from Amazon. I’ve been looking into it and learned that with OEM you won’t receive Microsoft support for moving the operating system. This could complicate transferring the key, and I’m unsure how to proceed since Microsoft support isn’t available through the OEM channel. Anyone else has experience transferring Windows 10 Home that was OEM? I’d rather avoid buying another $90 key.

You could contact them directly. If you bought an OEM key, it’s linked to your motherboard, so swapping it would require a replacement. I’ve heard some folks manage to move them via Microsoft support.

I might consider reaching out, but many are mentioning they don’t provide free help for OEM models. I’d need to calculate the expense involved. They give free assistance for non-OEM versions. The challenge is that mine is an OEM. I’ll give it a try. Anyone else have more details?

You need to connect your account with your email address during the setup process. It’s the initial step to complete registration.

I think that's correct. Just log in and it should work. Right now, Microsoft appears to focus more on gaining market share than making money from key sales.

I'll handle the login and activate the key, then proceed with a local setup. Thank you.
