Inquiries regarding overclocking
Hello, I began pushing my computer beyond its limits using prime95. The highest speed I achieved was around 3.8 ghz, and only the multiplier changed. At 3.9 ghz without any adjustments, the system restarts after about 20 minutes in prim95. I’m unsure what’s happening. It doesn’t seem like the CPU temperature is the issue—it’s near 50 degrees with prime95 running. Turbo boost is disabled. My main concern is whether a failed overclock means my system is permanently damaged and can’t be fixed, or if I can reset it back to default settings in BIOS. I’m very worried about losing the ability to turn it on again after this.
The board you possess isn't designed for overclocking—it's a budget model, and I wouldn't attempt it. You can safely take out the battery and reset the CMOS to its default configuration unless you risk damaging it.
