For measurement, I’ll be doing heavy video editing, color grading, and rendering with Resolve and some Adobe tools. I also do photo work. First, I have a couple of doubts:
1. The Ryzen 4K series is now on the market. Should I wait a bit longer before moving to something like the Threadripper 4960x? Is that a likely timeline?
2. I own a GTX 1070 and want to upgrade it. I’ve been eyeing the rare Radeon VII (16GB HBM2). Will this serve as a good temporary solution until the RDNA2/RTX3k models arrive? At prices in Denmark, it looks like it’s half the cost of a 2080Ti, with similar performance. If I use another used GTX 1070 instead of buying a new one, will it count for the 16GB VRAM? Does it work that way specifically with Resolve?
3. I’m puzzled by the various motherboard features—some models seem to lack USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 ports, or have SATA ports sharing lanes with M.2 slots. I’d love a M.2 slot around 1TB for OS storage and a RAID array for my current project. Would it be possible to get a single M.2 slot of that size? Also, is there a way to utilize all the PCIe lanes on the CPU and chipset simultaneously? I’m curious about how this actually functions in practice.

there are few trx40 boards available, each quite costly, which also indicates they are exceptionally well constructed. you shouldn't face any issues setting up the nvme configuration you mentioned; however, it's unlikely they'll reach their theoretical maximum speed for clear reasons. still, they're fast enough for most tasks. if raid 0 nvme drives remain too slow, consider an optane 905p. msi's trx40 includes an nvme expansion card with a heatsink on top—active cooling isn't strictly necessary but would be beneficial.
