Imagine keeping an untagged profile with no victories—would it stay exactly as "Ignoring csgo updates" forever? Would Steam automatically close it?

It would stay exactly the same; I don’t understand why you’d think that way...

It would remain in place. If it had a position, that position would vanish after a month before it stayed there.

Steam doesn't lock accounts because of inactivity. It remains unchanged, just like it was today, and this will stay consistent for the next ten years.

I own this type of account. It's been more than a year since I last logged into CSGO. I believe the last time was to watch DH games with GOTV. They don't delete accounts. A CSGO account is identical to Steam accounts. You purchase the game, and it stays there indefinitely.
