I have some concerns about overclocking the i7-9700k. Right now it's running at 5Ghz with a static voltage of 1.35V. First, should I be concerned about voltage changes? You mentioned the voltage seems to jump around quite a bit when adjusting settings—sometimes it peaks above 1.4V and spikes up to 1.46V when auto is enabled. That’s a bit too close to your preferred setting of 1.35V. Your LLC voltage was unchanged even after lowering it, which suggests the issue isn’t with that setting.
Second, how does frequency behave when you tweak the AVX offset? It becomes unstable even when the system isn’t under load. I set it to 3 and tried 2, but the frequency would jump erratically—from around 4.6Ghz to 4.9Ghz. Now that I’ve reset it back to 0, things are stable again.
Third, what about crashes during the XTU test? At 5Ghz it doesn’t seem to affect the built-in benchmark much. You didn’t see any crashes in games or Cinebench, so it’s not a major concern right now.
Fourth, with such high overclocks and a hardline loop, what temperature should I expect? Cinebench reaches about 75°C, and GTA V stays between 60°C–80°C depending on location. It rarely goes past 80°C, which is good.
Overall, it’s worth keeping an eye on stability and temperature, but so far the voltage drift and frequency instability are manageable.
