Hello everyone, I’m facing some issues with my PC currently. I have a powerful Nvidia 4070 Ti 3 fan model and an MSI Mag 325CQRXF monitor. It seems I can only handle 1440p at 2K, not 4K. I’m using a DP2.0 certified cable between them, but I keep encountering a black screen while playing games on Steam. It either freezes or locks up, then forces me to exit. Interestingly, the keyboard would reset itself, but the audio and mouse stayed functional. Eventually, it would return to the login screen. The CPU temperature never exceeded 45°C, and the GPU fans only activated when needed for higher load. I reinstalled Steam, updated my graphics card, and re-seated the GPU. The monitor works fine on HDMI 60Hz but crashes with the DP2.0 port. My PC is about a month old, and before this, I used a 120Hz monitor via HDMI 2.0. I think my GPU and monitor both support DP1.4, which might be the issue since I’m using DP2.0. Could it be a faulty monitor or cable? Should I use a different cable to push the highest possible Hz? I’m not a tech expert—I mostly play games on consoles and don’t often touch BIOS settings. I’m worried about damaging my GPU by keeping trying this.
