I'm exploring various RAM options and based on some advice, 3600 CL16 seems ideal for AMD. I aim for a 32GB setup, even though most of the time I'll be gaming. I know 32GB might be excessive for just games, but it’s a smart move to stay ahead for the future. I found a black-and-white RGB free RAM that fits my style, though it’s a bit more expensive. I’m worried it might be outdated since it’s from 2018, and the chipset lists Intel, which could affect AMD compatibility. Will this impact performance? Should I wait for any updates on the Zen 3 chips before deciding if they’ll shift to higher speeds like 4000? Have any leaks or rumors been shared about this?
It's not always the case. A 16 gig kit should suffice right now and can be upgraded later to 32. Intel RAM confirms compatibility with their CPUs, but doesn't guarantee it works with AMD. We're still uncertain about Zen 3, but with Zen 2 we've seen chips reaching 4000 MHz for RAM, which means you'd be running at double speed and potentially worse latency. You might want to wait for Zen 3 and see what improvements it brings first.
