I’ve just acquired a copy of Assassin's Creed II and have some queries: 1) I’m new to the series, what background info is essential about the world? 2) Should I revisit the events from AC1? Are there helpful videos available? 3) What’s the PC performance like (780ti + 3570k)? 4) Has it held up over time? Since my last RPG was Witcher 3, which I liked, the Italian setting in this game catches my eye. Any other details you should consider?

Essentially, most details are covered in AC2. The previous notes confirm this. It should work well. This approach, using AC2 and the Ezio line, has been the best so far.

Watch a video about AC1 – the story is solid, though the game feels quite old. It gets more engaging starting at level 2, and I really liked AC overall. The only issues were with Unity and Syndicate.

The Ezio trilogy forms the main narrative.
2. It's a bit mixed. I began with AC 2 and had no problems; it's not a big deal to hear a summary of the first match since AC 1 isn't quite as polished.
3. It still works fine. Maybe some adjustments are needed, but it should function.
4. As I mentioned earlier, it hasn't held up well over time—it's still playable, just the formula with AC 2 is solid.

I don't agree. I believe Black Flag is a top-notch AC game, really impressive overall—better than AC3, which came before it. Rogue was only slightly better, while Unity and Syndicate lack strong AC themes and quality questing. I think this is because the main AC writer left Ubisoft around or after Black Flag.
