Considering your goals, the Quest3 remains a solid choice but steering clear of Meta products makes sense. You're aiming for a setup that showcases realistic performance, like low latency and high image quality. Valve's Deckard is a promising option and may arrive with Half-Life 3. The Big Screen Beyond 2 offers impressive visuals but comes with a higher cost. Your PC setup is decent but not cutting-edge. For games like NoMansSky, Half-Life Alyx, and Rise of the Tomb Raider, a Vive Pro 2 looks appealing. It’s a good balance between capability and price, especially with the £700 kit including controllers and base stations. If you want to avoid Meta entirely, the Vive Pro 2 seems like a strong alternative, though it’s worth weighing your budget and enthusiasm for the future.

The Vive sticks are terrible, so when you own the Vive, pair it with the index knuckle controllers for a much improved feel

I considered suggesting the Index overall, but with the price of the Vive Pro 2 I think it won't be the best value at around 700. You can also browse marketplaces, as many people upgrade their VR gear and eventually discard it for cheaper alternatives. I originally owned an older Vive, upgraded to the Index later, and found it valuable even though I don’t play much now. I also agree with Blasty—the wands aren’t top-notch, but they work well in certain games and make them a bit more manageable. The GPU should be solid too; I have a 10GB 3080 and it handles VR performance effortlessly. Hope you have fun with your choice!
