Hi everyone. I recently purchased hardware for two storage servers and am trying to get them up and running, but I’m facing issues with booting. Both systems look very similar: Xeon Silver 4314 CPU, four 32 GB Kingston Server Premier DDR4 modules, a network card, an HBA card, and two SATA SSDs connected via SATA. The main difference is the motherboards—one uses a Gigabyte Mu72-SU0 and the other an AsRock C621A WS. Neither is booting properly. They’re showing me a graphis but I can’t access the BIOS. The Gigabyte model is stuck in memory initialization mode, and only one slot has a single 2666 non-ecc stick, while the AsRock is displaying Code E8 or EB on the board and just a small 31 in the bottom-right corner. I suspect a RAM problem, but I’m not sure what else might be wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated—I really need your help! Thanks, JD

It appears the system is remembering incorrect information. Adding RDIMMS should resolve the issue. These boards appear to support only RDIMMs, not non-ecc RAM. Review the IPMI webpage for further details on the error.

RAM slots are usually listed from the exterior outward. Refer to the documentation for the intended sequence; certain boards may require a specific DIMM placement in their initial channel.
