Hello, welcome to building your PC! I’m just starting out and want to assemble a powerful machine. The main challenges are choosing the right RAM and selecting a suitable motherboard. While PCPARTPICKER.COM says both RAM types work with any motherboard and the 64-core Threadripper CPU, it warns that the modules might run slower than ideal due to voltage limits. Here’s what you should consider:

For RAM, you have two options:
- Option 1: G.Skill Trident Z Royal 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-4000 CL18
- Option 2: G.Skill Trident Z Royal 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR4-4266 CL19

For the motherboard, both Gigabyte TRX40 DESIGNARE XL and Gigabyte TRX40 AORUS XTREME XL ATX support AMD Threadripper CPUs. Both are XL ATX models and should work well together.

It's about finding a powerful setup. Threadripper works with quad or octa chips delivering over 3200 MT/s. You won't need a 2000W power supply. The system will run smoothly even on half of that capacity.

I think any RAM kits or motherboards should work. The warning from PCPartPicker simply indicates it might not perform as fast as advertised out of the box. You have four 2x32GB (64GB) RAM options in your setup; I assume you're aiming for 256GB total. In that scenario, choosing one 8x32GB unit or four identical 2x32GB units would be better. Also, you probably don’t need the $800, 2000W power supply—it’s possible to find decent 1600W units for around $450. The warning about the CPU cooler is just a note; most kits come with compatible coolers. You won’t really need the 800$ 2,000W PSU if you opt for something more affordable. PCPartPicker’s list includes an AMD Threadripper 3990X at 64-core, 2.9 GHz, priced at $6129 on Amazon. The cooler suggested is a Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE with 75 CFM, costing $184.99. The motherboard is the Gigabyte TRX40 DESIGNARE XL ATX sTRX4 model for $629.99. Your RAM should be G.Skill Trident Z Neo 256GB (8x32GB) at $1239.99. Storage is a Seagate FireCuda 530 4TB M.2-2280 NVME drive for $899.99. The graphics card listed is the XFX Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB Speedster QICK 319 BLACK at $999.99. The case recommended is Anidees AI CRYSTAL XL PRO ATX full tower at $329.90. For power, a Super Flower Leadex Platinum 1600W PSU with 80+ certification is available for $469.99. The OS suggested is Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 32/64-bit at $199.99. Overall cost comes to about $11,083.83, including shipping and taxes. Prices are based on current listings from Amazon and other retailers. If the first firmware doesn’t support your CPU, you can usually get it upgraded at a local shop.
