Hello everyone,
I was thinking about whether it would be a good move to boost my CPU and GPU speeds to improve PC performance while playing games. After reading about the requirements for Tom Clancy's The Division 2, I realized I need an 11GB GPU to run at 60 FPS in 4K resolution. Now I’m considering purchasing another GPU, but prices are really high due to the current bitcoin mining situation. My main question is: would overclocking my CPU and GPU actually enhance the performance of my PC and allow it to handle 4K in that game?

Here are my PC specifications:
Operating System
Windows 10 Home 64-bit

CPU
Intel Core i7 7700K @ 4.20GHz 50 °C
Kaby Lake 14nm Technology

RAM
16,0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1069MHz (15-15-15-36)

Motherboard
MSI Z270 GAMING M7 (MS-7A57) (U3E1) 44 °C

Graphics
LG HDR 4K (3840x2160@60Hz)
MD20435 (1920x1080@60Hz)

MD20435 (1920x1080@60Hz)
8GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX GAMING X 1080 (MSI) 57 °C

Storage
2794GB TOSHIBA DT01ACA300 (SATA ) 37 °C
232GB Samsung SSD 960 EVO 250GB (SSD)

Optical Drives
DiscSoft Virtual SCSI CdRom Device
DiscSoft Virtual SCSI CdRom Device
DiscSoft Virtual SCSI CdRom Device

Audio
Turtle Beach Ear Force Stealth 450

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Greetings Johny

When you run a game on settings needing more memory than you have, it will likely fail to load, crash, or you’ll be stuck with just that game—no background tasks can run. Boosting memory on your GPU helps, but it’s not a replacement for real physical memory.
