Hi I was planning on getting an EVGA 750 or 650 power supply, but on amazon I see that there’s 3 options: G5, G6, and GT. I notice the GT is cheaper but is there a big difference between the three? Also which one is the best of the three

These models represent a range of ages. The G5 was released in 2019, G6 in 2021, and GT in 2022. EVGA does not manufacture its own PSUs, so each model uses a different OEM. The G5 uses FSB as its OEM, G6 uses SeaSonic, and GT uses HEC. Among these, the G6 and GT are considered the top choices, though in 2025 it might not be practical to opt for ATX 2.5 PSUs instead of an ATX 3/3.1 PSU.

Observe that none of these units are ATX 3.X power supplies. It seems illogical to purchase an ATX 2.53 PSU in 2025.

You might also purchase the suitable adapter cable. As long as the PSU can manage transients, everything is fine.
The main reason to steer clear of EVGA at the moment could be the absence of warranty assistance. They haven't fully stopped working yet. However, eventually they won't be able to help you with replacements.

There is a lot more than just a connector as the
difference between 2.5 and 3.0
. Not to mention most new models are all ATX 3.X anyways and IIRC ATX 3 requires 16AWG cables for the GPU instead of 18AWG that was normal on ATX 2.X.

Many premium PSUs also employed 16-gauge wiring, which could reach up to 972W at maximum, or about 780W with an 80% safety margin. Even a more modest 60W (5A) per wire would provide around 540W. This aligns more closely with the design goals of the 6-pin and 8-pin 18-gauge models. That's why reviewing PSU specifications matters—don't rely solely on them.
