Hello, one day while I was using my PC, it suddenly restarted. Once it powers on, it moves past the BIOS screen and reaches the Windows start menu. About half a second after the loading icon appears, it restarts again. This happens even when using a Windows installation drive. I noticed the RAM indicator flashes orange, followed by the CPU indicator turning red. A technician at a shop said everything seems okay but suggested the motherboard might be faulty. I replaced the RAM and tried it in my machine tonight, but it still behaves this way. I’ve also done: reseating all cables, testing each RAM stick separately, updating BIOS, replacing the CMOS battery, rechecking CPU, GPU, and cooler connections, changing SATA and hard drive setups both physically and in BIOS. I also tested the PSU in another computer. My specs are: CPU – Ryzen 7 5800X, GPU – Nvidia GTX 1060, 6GB RAM (Corsair Vengance 3200MHz), motherboard – originally MSI B550M Pro-VDH Wifi, new one ASUS Tuf Gaming B550M-plus, case – Thermaltake S200 ARGB. PSU – Deepcool DQ750ST. Anyone know what I’m dealing with? I’m getting really frustrated because I feel like I’ve tried everything. Hi, I experienced the same issue exactly as you did. Word for word, same experience. Admittedly, practical know-how isn’t the best, but it could help someone else going through the same process. I had the same CPU and identical symptoms; I followed your troubleshooting steps closely, except I had a backup Ryzen 5 3600. After replacing it, the problem vanished. I’d recommend trying a spare AM4 CPU to see if that fixes it. Hopefully this helps you too. By the way, I initially thought my motherboard was faulty.

Consider slowing down the CPU. It could operate at a reduced speed if it’s struggling. If that fails, repeat the process for the RAM. The issue isn’t likely the motherboard, so CPU, RAM, GPU, and PSU remain uncertain. You mentioned testing the PSU on another machine, but perhaps excessive power consumption is the root cause. Did the repair shop attempt to boot the computer first? There are instances where poor power quality leads to unusual behavior. When the Windows boot screen appears, the system uses significantly more power—this is especially taxing on CPU and storage, which explains where crashes commonly occur.
