Hi, a few days back I upgraded my motherboard and CPU. Before doing that, I checked if my account could reactivate Windows using a digital license, and it worked smoothly—so I didn’t worry much about it. However, after completing the upgrade, the system told me I needed to activate Windows again. I haven’t managed to resolve the issue yet. Thanks!

You'll need a key to turn on Windows. All settings should connect back to your account after the last installation, right?

This was what I expected, yet it indicates otherwise. I even discovered the confirmation message that Windows displays for a product key, though it wasn't present. Additionally, it shows I have Windows 10 Pro after installing Windows 10 Home during my upgrade on last Thursday. Edited April 10, 2022 by Ryan Green

I'll send the reply and inform them about the missing key. Also, mention the Pro/Home problem since a home key won't work for Pro.

No, I did not sign in to your Microsoft account at any point.

In the worst case, you pay $20 for a Windows 10 Pro license.

I checked to confirm activation, and it stated "Windows is activated through a digital license tied to your Microsoft account."

You're certain you chose Windows 10 Home instead of 10 Pro during setup?

However, not all Windows versions are compatible for transfer. It seems this issue might be with you. Yes, the operating system was purchased with a digital license, which means it can't be moved to another device.
