I recently purchased a new PC for my living room and am attempting to boost the frame rate to 120 hertz. It’s linked to an LC C2 TV and runs an RX 6800XT. Since the TV only supports HDMI and the graphics card lacks HDMI 2.1, I opted for this solution, which was intended to work. I’ve tested various HDMI cables but none have enabled 120 hertz playback. The signal disappears until the TV reverts to 60 hertz. My last cable came from a series X model, so it should support 2.1. I’ve also reduced the resolution to 1440p or 1080p without success at higher frame rates. HDR is off, and I’m unsure what else can help unless the adapter I bought isn’t functioning properly.
Did you manage to get it running without the adapter? I think this could cause problems. I’ve faced issues with different adapters or HDMI to HDMI cables before. It should function properly out of the box. Your C6, CX, and C2 models all worked well with your Nvidia graphics cards. Your 6800XT should support 4K at 120 with HDR and VRR. Make sure 'Game Mode' is enabled on the TV via the HDMI input where your PC connects for VRR. 'Just-Scan' is another setting you might need to activate to ensure the screen fills correctly. It’s located in the aspect ratio menu. Also, turn off all True Motion options in the Clarity Settings menu.
