I was using my fx 8320 at 4.7ghz and 1.42v with the r9 270x without any problems. After switching to an rx 480, my computer would freeze. Resetting the BIOS back to stock resolved the issue, but increasing the voltage to 1.4v+ caused the PC to freeze within about 15 minutes during gaming. Upgrading the voltage seems to trigger the freezing. What might be causing this problem?

It seems the PSU can't supply the required power.

It seems I'm not convinced by this because the r9 270x consumes more power than my gtx 1070. I also switched to a new 650w power supply, which only draws about 350w when it's loaded.
