Hi, Looking for a little bit of advice due to have next to no experience in BIOS upgrades. So this is my current situation; I've recently purchased myself a new graphics card and monitor. Graphics Card > Zotac 1070ti mini to Palit 5070ti full size. Wow the size difference haha! Monitor > I'm going from basics 4k 60hz Acer monitor to a Asus OLED 1440p 360hz monitor. Now my Motherboard is a ASrock x470 Mini-ITX board and on the website, it says it support the 5950X with a specific BIOS version. The main question is... Is that upgrade worth it with the risks involved with BIOS upgrading? Am I going to see much of an uplift in performance? Upgrading BIOS these days is straightforward. Just read the instructions and keep it untouched until the update finishes. You’re moving from a 2000 series 6/12 CPU to a 5000 series 16/32, which is a significant improvement. Even if you chose a lower 5000 CPU like a 5800 or 5700, both will offer 8/16 performance—still a big boost. I’m confident the 5070 Ti won’t cause a bottleneck with that 2600 X, so a CPU upgrade would be beneficial.

Just refresh the BIOS following the guidelines. It's straightforward, hassle-free, and poses minimal risk. As mentioned before, it's a concern that persists despite modern dual BIOS systems and flashbacks. Updating your BIOS will give you a significantly stronger single and multi-core performance. I’m hoping the 5950x isn’t being bought brand new. Usually upgrading to an older part doesn’t really add value unless it’s very affordable, and those chips haven’t been released recently. The listings you’ll find will mostly be overpriced copies of new parts and should be disregarded. A decent used chip could work, but if you’re aiming to play games, buying a 5700/5800x3D would make more sense.

Oh no, it's not brand new—I'm definitely going second-hand. Thanks for all the reassurance. This isn't something I've ever done before, so I'll just keep going with how straightforward everyone says it is! Haha. I picked the 5950x because of my work with Inventor, Fusion, and video editing. Plus, in the UK, the 5950x is only about £40 more second-hand than new, so if I decide, I'll go for the best option available. I'm giving it a try right now! Thanks! Just switching from my 1070ti to this 5070ti has really surprised me, and it's also my first time seeing OLED. My little brain was shocked by how much better it looks compared to LCD, especially with the performance boost.
I hope it doesn’t seem silly. You could simply download the P4.40 update and install it directly instead of navigating through multiple versions.
