Increasing performance of 5900X through voltage adjustments.
Hey everyone, curious about this odd behavior I'm seeing. When I run everything in auto mode, the base clock sits around 3.7 and climbs to about 4.25 across all cores. But when I tweak things—like setting the core multiplier to 40 and voltage to -0.1—I suddenly get a stable 4GHz without any boost. That’s not what I expected. Is this typical or did I accidentally break something? Thanks, Mobo (ASUS Strix-E X570)!
They're okay as expected, not how these CPUs are meant to be overclocked. First, revert everything back to default or auto settings. Only adjust the curve optimizer and/or max boost clock override—those are in the 'AMD overclocking' area. For the curve optimizer, begin with a negative offset of 5, apply it across all cores, and tweak from there. Look for a solid tutorial to learn more. On my machine, I set all cores to -10 and max boost clock override to +150. Stability testing can be tough; sometimes everything works for a couple days before you need a restart at the worst time.
