Hey there, just got into overclocking after a few weeks of building my PC. I checked the CPU bus frequency in the hardware monitor and saw what could be done. I adjusted the BCLK frequency in the Asus BIOS to 110,000 Hz and noticed a noticeable boost in Cinebench scores. Now I’m trying to figure out if it was a good move or if I risked damaging my components. What are the potential downsides? Could it affect stability or even cause issues down the line? Also, just a quick rundown of my system specs: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, Radeon RX 6800 XT, Asus ROG crosshair, dark hero, 16GB RAM at 3600 MHz, Samsung Evo 980 Pro, and a 1000W PSU.

You increased the starting frequency. This boosted your CPU speed since it multiplies the base frequency to reach its peak. Your RAM also operates based on the base clock, so you slightly raised your RAM's speed to 3960. The main concern is stability at that higher rate—usually not a problem unless you push too hard. If you wish to overclock just your CPU, do it through the BIOS if possible (Ryzen Master supports this), otherwise stick to adjusting the BIOS settings.

Three years later here, just a quick note. Your score improved because your CPU boosted the base clock by 10%, and then multiplied it again based on that increase. That extra boost came from the additional CPU speed. You probably realized this yourself, so writing it out might not add much value.
