Increase RAM speed to 3000Mhz without using XMP settings
Hello! I have two memory modules – Corsair LPX 8GB at 3000MHz CL16 and my motherboard ASUS Z370-P II. When I set the RAM to 3000Mhz with XMP, the PC becomes unstable. In AIDA64 it reports a hardware failure. The stock settings (2133Mhz) are working fine without any issues. I manually adjusted the timings on the RAM, but the problem persists in AIDA64. I’ve run the RAM through Memtest86 and HCI memtest, and they all pass. I believe I need to slightly overclock the processor to reach 3000Mhz. My CPU is an Intel i5 9600k. Here are the full specs of my RAMs: https://www.corsair.com/eu/en/Categories...M1D3000C16
Hey buddy,
I had the same problem today but I'm running an X99 rampage 5 extreme with 5930k and 3400Mhz memory. You might need to raise your RAM voltage slightly—my board would read low in BIOS, which is common on ASUS boards. If that doesn’t help, increasing your system agent voltage could be necessary. It powers the memory controller built into the CPU. I wasn’t able to stay stable until it was at 1.14v, after which everything worked smoothly (since all chips behave differently with this voltage).
Good advice here—should work for your setup too:

Also, did you purchase two of those kits mentioned in the link? You should definitely buy them together since they work well when used as a pair in dual stick configurations. They are verified to function correctly at the rated speeds during testing in the factory. You're likely to still achieve around 3000 easy. Also keep in mind that my hardware is from 2016, so there might be differences with these newer chips—I haven't tested them yet. They should probably be discussed on ASUS forums for a more recent board.
I was having trouble with the voltage, but now I'm operating at 2500 Mhz without any instability issues. That's a good progress.
Updated to 2666Mhz with 16-18-18-35 settings at 1.2x speed. Will continue updating until reaching 3000Mhz.
Updated version: 2800Mhz with 16-18-18-36 settings at 1.2x speed. I believe adjusting the timings to 16-18-18-38 at 1.35x will stabilize at 3000Mhz, so I'll give it a try. The specifications Corsair achieved for 3000Mhz are 16-20-20-38 with 1.35x but I think they're a bit higher.
