Increase frame rate by keeping MSI afterburner at its standard setting
My laptop is an Acer Aspire VX 15 with a GTX 1050. I recently tested the in-game benchmark in Rainbow Six Siege using the lowest settings at 1080p and achieved around 95 FPS. When MSI afterburner runs in the background with all clockspeed dials set to default, my average improves to about 105 FPS. Can anyone clarify this difference?
Actually, it's not such a big deal for that drop in frames. 95-105 fps is almost invisible to the human eye. Still, regarding the question, I think you somehow managed to boost after burner and raised the GPU clock speed. Not a solid confirmation, but at least you're getting 60+fps.
Ah, but that average fps reflects the full benchmark I tested several times just to confirm, and it would have dropped further if I'd boosted the graphics settings. Still, my issue is resolved. I removed all MSI-related afterburner components, used Display Driver Uninstaller to eliminate every Nvidia software, then reinstalled them again—uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help. After running the test, I achieved at least 110 fps, which is a noticeable improvement over the 105 I got previously. And yes, I performed some light overclocking before reverting to the original clock speeds, which might have triggered a brief glitch.
