Incorrect tCL settings on DRAM calculator? System fails to start due to timing issues.
This setup works well with the latest BIOS and supports R9 5900X, making it suitable for both overclocking and fine-tuning manual settings rather than just XMP.
You don't require a calculator as it's incorrect. Your device uses Samsung B-DIE and the calculator isn't compatible. The best method is to train your memory by adjusting XMP settings. Ensure timings and voltage align with the SPD reading in the BIOS for the XMP profile. Set the DRAM frequency to 3200MHz and apply it. Aim for a voltage of around 1.35V. After reaching 3200MHz, gradually increase the frequency during each restart until you hit 3600MHz. This process is memory training. Following these steps should work well.
The kit includes a C at the end—it's a Hynix model. It doesn't work well with any AMD generation. The part number mentioned was for the calculator, but without the final C. This is the version you should have purchased, which I believed you were looking for. https://www.gskill.com/product/165/299/1...16D-16GTRS
I have the C model. The Gskill site says it pairs well with XMP for Ryzen 3000 with my motherboard. I plan to work on improving my memory as you suggested. At 3200Mhz on XMP it functions properly. 3332Mhz causes crashes and 3466Mhz works fine. I’m stuck at 3533Mhz now. The 3600 doesn’t boot.
Ryzen's memory controller supports various speeds, but 3200MHz at CL14 is typically safe. Higher speeds like 3533MHz or 3600MHz are usually fine unless you have specific requirements. You don’t need to change the settings unless you’re targeting a particular benchmark or performance goal.
You can keep everything automatic. For an odd number of cylinders, switch down mode in the timing settings. Try something like 15-17-17-17.
