Hello, I changed the connection on my main OLED monitor to HDMI 2.1 to take advantage of 12-bit at 175Hz. The monitors I'm using are: 1: MSI MAG 341CQP (HDMI 2.1) and 2: Gigabyte G34wqc (DisplayPort 1.4a). After switching to HDMI, the aspect ratio in games is distorted. I can no longer enjoy a proper fullscreen 21:9 at 3440x1440; it's stuck at 16:9 and shows weird letterboxing when in fullscreen. When I switch to windowed or bordeless mode, it scales correctly as 21:9. In NVCP scaling is turned off, whereas with DP it used to scale to the monitor’s proportions. On HDMI it now just displays black bars on the sides, similar to running 2560x1440. Also, the DSR isn’t working and none of the resolutions appear in the settings. Anyone have a solution?

I suspect the HDMI cable isn't providing enough bandwidth for the 3440 x 1440 x 175 Hz @ 10 bpc requirement. The mention of a 12-bit LUT seems unrelated to this issue, as it's likely connected to another component or setting.

It functions smoothly on a 7680x4320 display at 60Hz, indicating the cable isn't the problem—it has sufficient bandwidth. I cleared all configurations and achieved a 3440x1440 output in 16:9 format without letterboxing. Notably, this concern only appears in fullscreen mode; windowed or borderless setups work perfectly, further ruling out cable limitations.

To highlight this more clearly:
The sole variation lies in borderless versus fullscreen mode, with no other adjustments made.

I understand this situation. I purchased a 2.1 HDMI cable to ensure proper operation, having two different ones but facing the same preset issue on both. I bought a longer one—3 meters—to better route the cables for the PC. The problem isn’t with the cable itself. I considered using 144Hz 10bpc over DP 1.4a, but I didn’t want to lower the refresh rate from 175Hz. The DSR is just a minor concern. My main issue is that it’s compressing 3440x1440 into 16:9 for fullscreen games, which affects the 8K resolution.

The odd behavior happens when you open The Finals in fullscreen. It first displays correctly in its natural proportions, but later it resizes it back to a standard 16:9 format.

The system checks if DSC is available before attempting DP 1.4a. I'm clarifying whether you verified the cable's compatibility. Both monitors aren't 8K.

The values shown aren't accurate. I can select 8k based on the first screenshot post. All other DSR factors look incorrect. I can adjust it down to 144hz at 10bpc, but I don’t want to reduce the refresh rate too much since that would lower FPS in games.

I mentioned earlier that using DSR doesn't boost the data sent to the monitor—it only works inside the GPU. This means you haven't really checked the cable beyond 3440x1440 at 60 Hz. It's possible the cables are still being advertised as HDMI 2.1 without any real difference. In practice, cables aren't labeled with specific versions; they're defined by their maximum supported bandwidth.
