Hi, we're looking for an Ethernet cable to the attic because the Wi-Fi signal there is weak. We have these conduits or pipes where you insert the Ethernet cable and then pull it out (the black wire is used for that). I've heard that you should connect the black wire with the Ethernet cable. I tried removing just the black wire without the cable, but now I'm really confused. Some people have told me to use a tension spring. Is that really the most affordable and convenient solution? I'm from the Netherlands, so my English isn't always perfect.
They seem to be simple devices connected by a pulling mechanism. I haven't seen or handled one with a tension spring before. It's likely you can pass it through with a rigid wire or similar tool.
