Your custom-built PC runs smoothly until you spawn objects, after which performance drops significantly. The issue likely stems from GPU usage rather than CPU limitations. You have an Intel 4790K at 4.4GHz and an MSI GTX 980 Ti with only 1% utilization—this suggests your setup is underpowered for Garry’s Mod. To force the game to use your GPU, consider adjusting settings like "Use My GPU" in the game options or using a dedicated GPU driver if available. If you're using a different GPU, ensure it's properly connected and drivers are up to date.

Garry's Mod is a harsh, single-threaded demolition tool. It's not about your graphics card struggling. Which operating system are you using?

It's source, don't expect it to do great (>1900 hours played of serious build, 900+ prop contraptions daily.)

The issue is likely tied to the Source engine running on Windows 10, which is a known concern.

Just follow my usual steps: tell your rig it’s bad and restart it. My version actually works. The source needs to run on a potato, though.

You can try adjusting settings or using compatibility modes to mimic Windows 8 behavior.
